I’ve got dry skin!
This skin care mistake can have BIG implications. Most of us with skin that FEELS dry actually have DEHYDRATED skin.
People treat DRY skin by adding oils.
Oils feel silky and they can often soothe the tight, dry itchy feeling that comes with dry skin.
But applying oils to Dehydrated skin will actually ‘suffocate’ the skin, creating MORE dehydration as well as clogging pores and creating breakouts.
So, BIG mistake #1
Treating Dehydrated skin like Dry skin.
For beautifully hydrated skin use an oil free moisturiser loaded wirth Humectants to draw moistrue from the air into your skin.
COVERING UP BLEMISHES with an oil based foundation.
(Pssst - even some of the ‘oil-free’ foundations contain skin suffocating oil alternatives)
Again, any of the products contaiing petroleum based ingredients, actually CLOG and congest the skin, exaserbating any blemishes and breakouts.
Thus creating a viscious cycle of covering up, the cover up causing more ‘damage’ that needs to be covered up and so on and so on and so on!!
Find a foundation that doesn’t contain oils.
A great test is to squirt a little of your foundation into a small glass of water. Stir!
If the foundation sits in globes at the bottom of the glass, and / or if the foundation creates a greasy film around the glass - then you will know that the foundation DOES contain problematic oils. AND - it’s not doing your skin any favours.

Waiting for too long after cleansing before applying moisturiser.
There are 3 steps to best practice when it comes to your skin.
Not everyone remembers (or sticks with !!) Step 2. The TONE.
It is primarily necessary as a preparation step, preparing the skin for the ‘Treatment’ that is about to be applied. Serums, Moisturisers etc.
It also serves as an extra step to remove all traces of cleanser.
If sticking with SO MANY steps falls into the TOO HARD basket, then it is important to ensure you maintain the CLEANSE and MOISTURISE steps.
And don’t muck around between those steps. Leaving your skin cleansed and exposed to the elements for more than a few minutes can cause further dehydration of the skin.
(Especially if the cleanser you use is not ‘pH BALANCED’ - and pH balanced is not the same as pH Neutral.)
Most cleansers are actually quite strongly Alkaline - and that strong astringent factor will leave your skin STRIPPED of its natural oils and protective layers.
That tight, dry feeling after cleansing is because your cleanser is too strong, which actaully leaves your skin prone to increased oil production, reduced protection against pollution and bacteria.
All of the cleansers on our online store are guaranteed to be pH Balanced and safe for all skin types. Do your skin a huge favour and start going gentle with your cleansing routine. (And then add your moisturiser quickly!!)
